Monitoring and Control Architecture

RisLab defined an approach for managing security as a whole. It integrates every aspect of monitoring for protection, including security and safety, from the design, to the installation, up to the remote monitoring.
Thanks to this approach, our solutions and services perfectly fit the requirements of Critical Infrastructures.

OUR SOLUTION FOR MONITORING

RisLab’s main goal is to realize secure and dependable monitoring systems.
Nowadays, monitoring also includes IoT, since all components are networked: sensors, actuators, cameras, mobile devices. Thus, also cyber security aspects are to be considered.
Our monitoring approach perfectly merges all such components for protecting people and assets.
We start from consultancy and design, to lay the groundwork of a very good system, and end with monitoring and control of all the security aspects, by means of advanced software systems.

Level 1

SECURITY BY DESIGN

Security monitoring starts at the design stage. At this step, we define the system architecture, the devices to be used, and their integration.

The correct management of the design allows the reduction of the costs and to maximize protection.

Level 2

IMPLEMENTATION AND MAINTENANCE

Monitoring systems implementation and maintenance are essential to reach the highest protection levels. Nowadays, monitoring systems are consist of networked advanced ICT devices requiring a specific know how to be properly configured and high performance. The System Integrator, with a whole vision, can realize a performing, secure, and dependable system.

Level 3

FIELD DEVICES

Many devices can be used at the sensing level, to collect data from the environment to be monitored: wired and wireless sensors, (Internet of) things, cameras, drones, smartphones. By combining data from heterogeneous devices improves the situation awareness. As an instance, a drone can help monitoring hard to reach areas.

Level 4

DATA TRANSMISSION

Once data have been collected, it is very important they are securely and reliably transmitted to the analysis subsystem.
RisLab introduces robust, with respect to attacks and faults, communication systems, as certified by Federico II University of Naples.

Level 5

SOFTWARE & TECHNICIANS

Data are analyzed to obtain information providing the awareness to professionals. PSIMs and SIEMs are used for physical and cyber security management, respectively. RisLab integrated PCMS, her PSIM system, with QRadar, the SIEM by IBM, creating a Cyber-Physical Information and Event Management (CPSIEM) system. The personnel of the Security Operations Center (active 24/7/365), with the specific expertise, can select the proper actions to be taken.
